Join us for a special Maestro Intensivo with Dianne Heywood-Smith, The Tangueria-Sidewalk Tango, focusing on the technique, timing, and subtlety of barridas in social tango.
Barridas are often described as simple sweeping actions – yet when done well, they embody clarity, sensitivity, and shared intention. In this focused session, Dianne will guide dancers through the mechanics, connection, and musical awareness that allow barridas to feel natural, grounded, and beautifully integrated into the dance.
Through thoughtful exercises and partnered exploration, we will work on:
Clear lead-follow communication
Weight transfer and axis awareness
Musical timing and phrasing
Making barridas smooth, controlled, and socially elegant
The emphasis will be on quality rather than complexity – ensuring that what you learn can be confidently and comfortably applied on the social dance floor.
